Wiko Rainbow Cyanogen CM 13 ROM - Marshmallow 6.0.1 at XDA for Wiko Rainbow

Wiko Rainbow Cyanogen CM 13 ROM anyone? Yes you heard right! The Cyanogen CM13 Marshmallow 6.0.1 MOD has been ported to the Wiko Rainbow recently. It was more an accident that I saw the new CM 13 ROM, while installing Cyanogen CM13 Marshmallow 6.0.1 to my friends Samsung Galaxy S4. It's a nice new OS for both: Wiko Rainbow and Samsung Galaxy S4 - and it's worth a look. The Cyanogen CM 13Download ROM for Wiko Rainbow is available at
Yandex.com only for as far as I saw. On top of that, the ROM is russian and english only. Not too bad for my purposes. Also I think, you might be able to switch it to custom languages later. I'm going with the English version of Cyanogen CM 13 for Wiko Rainbow now.

I read about WiFi-Drops, but haven't had any for now. It's imminent to mention, that you have to do EXACTLY, what the small "How-To" tells you. A lot of people suffer errors, where several services (mostly setup wizard and play service) keep crashing in a frequncy, which makes the phone unusable. You can actually fix that problem (fix is a bit overrated - it's more a workaround) by giving the setup wizard / play service full permissions on and / or block messages from the crashing apps.

Anyway! Just PREVENT that state. How? Do a CLEAN and EXACT install. I myself hat that problem too. Tryed several gApps which all didn't work. Neighter the one, that were suggested by the XDA Developers and the users. Most people (I think even the thread owner suggested it) tell you to take the Opgen gApps "MINI". Unfortunatly, most user won't be able to install it, since it consumes to much memory I guess. So go with nano instead. I do even pico. If you dont have the right Wiko Rainbow USB driver installed yet, go HERE first, then proceed:

First you need to download:
  1. SP Flash Tool
  2. Fresh 04.12.2014_V1.13.zip ROM
  3. Wiko Rainbow Cyanogen CM 13 ROM
  4. Wiko Rainbow Cyanogen CM13 gApps
  5. TWRP 3 for Wiko Rainbow
  6. Fix for Wiko Rainbow NVRAM Error

(If you are unsure how exactly to do the following, then you may want to go HERE – step-by-step):

  1. Use SP Flash to Tool install the Fresh 04.12.2014_V1.13.zip (open Scatter-> update firmware -> Download)
  2. Use SP Flash Tool. Install Wiko Rainbow TWRP 3.x (tick only recovery, point to it, download mode -> download)
  3. Boot the phone INTO RECOVERY (Hold down VOLUME UP-KEY and start the phone)
  4. Advance wipe everything but the SDCARD / USB (Wipe -> Advanced Wipe)
  5. Format Data (Wipe -> Format Data -> yes)
  6. Install the Wiko Rainbow Cyanogen CM 13 ROM (When finnished, install the gApps! STRAIGHT!)
  7. Install the Wiko Rainbow Cyanogen CM13 gApps  (I would go with nano or less)
You can skip the following step if you have no problems with your NVRAM (Error is visible when opening the WiFi-List on android. There's something shown like: nvram warning: Err = 0x10 ).

9. In that case flash Fix for Wiko Rainbow NVRAM Error after the gApps.
Again in words: Wipe everything (EXCEPT THE SDCARD and USB - READ IT: DO NOT WIPE THE SDCARD / USB). Install the V1.13.zip Wiko Rainbow Cyanogen CM 13 ROM via SP Flash Tool (Method Update Firmware). Then, directly after, install the gApps! DO NOT DO ANYTHING BETWEEN INSTALLING THE ROM AND THE GAPPS!!!! Install the ROM and STRAIGHT AFTER the gApps. No reboot, no mounting, no wiggle wiggle!) Then - if wanted - flash the Fix for Wiko Rainbow NVRAM Error. DONE. Reboot. Have fun!

Additional Info:

WORD OF WARNING:  DON'T PROCEED (without reading)!!! After two days of working perfectly, my Wiko Rainbow blasted. Can connect it to power - but no charging and no indicating light / animation. I can connect it to PC: *DING DONG* -> USB detected -> *DONG DING* "USB gone". No lights or whatever at the phones side.

Can't see any devices in system properties. Can't what's damaged. Youtube ran over night. Maybe the phone overheated and I didn't realize it. Or the battery drained to the "point of no return". Who knows?!

EDIT: I got my phone fixed. Will write a short how-to later. So no matter wether the "brick" was caused by CM or my phone: It's working again. You may now go on installing this ROM on your own purpose. I doubt it's the ROMs fault that my Wiko Rainbow went dead after CM13 installation.

You can read how to fix that on my other post here: http://meandmywiko.blogspot.de/2016/04/wiko-rainbow-went-dead-cyanogen-cm13.html

I'm wondering if the issue is related to the fact that I forced my Cyanogen 13 to accept the microSD as internal memory instead of portable memory. But why would that damage my flash or whatever is responsible for eg booting etc... -_°;

  2. Hey Rand!

Haven't had time to look for the problem yet. Sorry. As mentioned at XDA, I'm not too sure, wether this has to do with the ROM at all. Maybe it was just the phone.

  5. I think I might have found someone who can help us to implement languages. Which one do you need? I could make that language a topic too. I'll come back to you in some days, when I gathered all the informations. Stay tuned...

    Cheers!

  7. I'm approaching a lot of nasty bugs recently. Overheating, double used space on internal / external memory, etc...

So for now I'm not sure wether I wanna use on the CM13.1 Marshmallow ROMs. Anyway I'll keep you updated with the language. Just a little more patience.

    1. Sers,

verzeih mir. Bin gerade etwas eingespannt. Dieses Paket ist sowie Multi-Lingual und nativ auf deutsch.

  9. Würde mich freuen wenn du es bereitstellst.
